Nothing yet. But, its due the first week or so in Sept. How did you do on the exam, guess the mark... and your general thoughts? Does one deserve to pass? and why?

I found the case to have a bit of everything. A mix of tactical and strategic. Four hours was not enough time to address everything but I imagine that's the point. The day 1 exam had some pretty subjective questions though. Overall I felt it all w…

You're right, it wasn't easy, that was not the way that I did cases when I took all my courses and seminars. Good luck to you and if you need anything let me know.

Hi David, Yes I did the case study session with Laurie, but I did it in 2008. I wrote my exam November 2008 and I passed. What did you need to know?

have you been able to find all of the postings with the old exams? - test yourself on those - multiple choise and T/F - see where you are % wise - do you know little / some / of most? for the short answer - I didn't even try to answer first then look up answers - I just sat in a quiet spot and wrote out all of the questions and the answers - repeatedly - (some of those quetions were actually on the exam) If you don't find all o the old exam samples - let me know - I will try to forward them to you - my work email is kelly_garmatz@cotyinc.com

I don't have a clue as far as the cases go - I wrote 30 pages and got 40% - so I can't provide any help at this time - I am waiting for a friend to send me the notes from the extra session that Laurie Turnbull hosted - so I will send that later as well.
I do have a friend who said that if I send her a written case - from the sample exams - she would critique it for me - she is a CPP - so I suggest you take an evenng and time yourself from 6pm to 10pm - take one of those cases - and pretend you are writing the final exam - send it to me - scan your handwritten pages is fine - and I will ask her to look at it for you.

hopefully we can help each other (partnership) - I learned that in POB HA HA

Hi David.. for the theory - day 1 - all I did was reread the learning outcomes over and over each night - and highlight key words and practice the same exams for day 1 - did this for 2 weeks - I took the week off before the exam - and I wrote out the answers from the sample exams over and over. Just take the answer pages for the short answer and rewrite - I had - thanks to this site - 2005 2006 2007 2008 and 2009 sample exams.

Hi David, we're all in the same boat so it's my pleasure to answer your questions.

For studying, I would say to focus on the learning outcomes. We just did the review session of POB and she said that the chances of the exam going outside of the learning outcomes questions are very slim. So that's where it will be for me. And while you are at the IRW, they will give you lots of tips and tricks to help guide you.

The preparation manual mentions there will be more questions on POB so may be a little more time there but really, everything has to be covered: learning outcomes, cases practices, test exams.

Your case format will be very important. But there is one full day on that so you will get the details in 2 weeks.

The IRW is all right. Food is not terrible but it seems to get better as the week progresses. Accomodations are OK but it's dorms with noises and shared bathrooms. Bring a pillow. There are no mirrors in the rooms, only in the bathrooms so depending on how much time you need (or your room mate needs it may create a bit of a crunch. Schedule is 8AM to 10PM if you attend the review workshops from 8-10.

What else do you want to know? Everybody is wearing jeans but some over do it with running shoes, tears and T-Shirts.

Oh, I almost forgot. April Devitt will be in touch with you. She lives in Trenton and couldn't find anyone local. Her email is april_devitt@hotmail.com

Let me know if I can be of further help.
Thanks,
Jeanne

Hi David, you are doing better than me. Up until 2 weeks ago I thought I would have to take a defferal. But I have decided to take a shot at it. I am currently at the IRW. Good reviews, tips and tricks. That will help me. We set up a group study and we'll work hard at it until the end. Many people haven't started at all... You are well on your way to a good mark!

Hi,

I only started studying after the week live-in and felt that I didn't leave enough time as i barely was able to get through most of the material. I didn't memorize the formulas and lucked out as there not many questions on them. At the week live in, there were answers going around to the main questions to focus on that PMAC publishes on their site, that is what I studied off of and it worked well. I thin it was approx. 50 pages for each principles course. I did the previous years' exams for practice and memorized the answers I got wrong and that was a useful exercise, even though there was not much material from previous exams on the 08' exam. I guess they change it up. So day 1 was tough and I barely passed. As for the case study, I spent way too much time reading it and was majorly rushed, I didn't have enough time and that is what hurt me. I actually spent over an hour reading it in detail to make sure I understood it, but then was racing to finish. The case study itself was a basic case study, nothing tricky and if you use the standard approach (basis issue, intermediate, issue analysis, etc...) you'll do fine. Best of luck!
Jason
